Caffeine Truths

Caffeine (including coffee, matcha, chocolate, black tea, and green tea) has two effects that can impact your health negatively, especially if you are cleansing with the guidance in Medical Medium Cleanse to Heal in order to heal chronic illnesses, symptoms, and conditions. One, it dehydrates the body. Two, it prompts the adrenal glands to pump unnecessary levels of adrenaline into your bloodstream, causing a variety of compromises to your brain, liver, and kidneys. 

Caffeine gives the adrenals a sense of fight or flight without our actual life circumstances being fight or flight. Now, fight or flight is a privilege we hold, an option for when we’re dealing with stress, loss, or confrontation. Fight or flight is the release of complex blends of life-saving hormones from the adrenals, blends that medical research and science don’t yet even comprehend. It’s for when we’re in a time of need and require the ability to think or act fast for survival. 

When we consume caffeine, it creates a boy-who-cried-wolf situation. It’s a kid pulling the fire alarm at school when there’s no fire. If you’re consuming caffeine all day long, you’re continually telling your body that there’s a crisis, prompting your adrenals to respond all day long. That can create a numbness. When a real crisis comes, we may not respond appropriately because we’re basically immune to the experience of adrenaline hitting the central nervous system. And the specific blend of adrenaline that fight or flight triggers can be highly toxic to the body because it’s highly acidic and corrosive to the nervous system and organs. This kind of adrenaline release is not meant to be used every day, let alone multiple times a day. It's meant to be used sparingly. Over time, this adrenaline blend can slowly scorch the liver as the organ sponges up the adrenaline to protect you.

Caffeine addiction forces the adrenals to pump a harsh blend of adrenaline through the body for hours and hours. It’s truly unhealthy, and down the road, it’s going to lead to aging, damaged skin, brain fog, severe focus and concentration problems, fatigue, hair loss, and weight gain. These symptoms may not show themselves in someone’s 20s. They tend to surface later in the 30s and 40s. Even if someone is experiencing weight loss or stable weight right now, they can still gain weight from it later, once the adrenals have been trashed enough or the liver has become stagnant and sluggish enough from excess adrenaline caused by caffeine use. It also causes reactions such as blood sugar imbalances, headaches, insomnia, anxiousness, mysterious sadness, depersonalization, chronic dehydration, kidney stones, and adrenal fatigue.

Caffeine feels good. It gets us to get up and go. But we pay a price for relying on caffeine to do that. When something has that much control over your life, it’s not about giving you pleasure anymore. It’s about taking something away that you weren’t even aware was being taken away. Experiencing life without reliance on a stimulant is a positive direction to take for physical and spiritual elevation. Don’t let caffeine be the factor that holds you back.

As we go through life, it can feel as though something is holding us down and not letting us move forward. When we go through emotional hardships, it can feel as if it leaves a residue on our soul. This residue can become a cage on the outside of our soul disconnecting us from ourselves, or how we feel about others. We can make misjudgments and choices that are out of emotion because we’ve been hurt, this can hold us back from being who we are.

This meditation provides an escape from the very difficult emotional challenges we’re facing every day, and within ourselves, so we can gain clarity and lift the residue off our soul. If we’re sick, and not feeling well, and are living with symptoms, this is a chance to elevate above it, while we’re working on healing. Completing this meditation can bring you in touch with a part of yourself you haven’t been connected to in years. 

Feel free to repeat the Free as a Bird Meditation as often as you’d like. As we go through life, we lose a connection to our very own soul; it becomes confined from all we experience, from hardships, betrayal, broken trust, losses, and the struggles of others that are around us. The cage that wraps around our soul is made of a residue of earthly woes, and this hinders the connection. We can feel like a great weight is upon us, holding us down from flying free and living the life we strive for. You can repeat this meditation when you feel the confines of life taking a grip once again, and building a new cage around your soul. The more you do this meditation, the less the cage can take hold, and the residue can no longer reside and hold you back. 

I recommend making this meditation a regular part of your spiritual growth and healing. When you practice flying free, nothing can hold you down, or get in your soul’s way.

Coffee, Matcha & Chocolate: Abusive Relationship

Caffeine has been around since ancient times, through a variety of plant sources, but there’s a bigger story to how it’s used now. The addiction that we have with caffeine is not just ceremonial anymore, like it was for hundreds of years, all around the world. Nowadays, we use it as a crutch to get by, because people don’t feel well, and are struggling from focus and concentration issues, brain fog, fatigue, energy issues, forgetfulness, grogginess, and physical discomfort. We use it now to mask our everyday symptoms. Sure, people who feel good still consume caffeine, but more people who don’t feel good, are consuming it to survive and get through their day. 

The relationship between caffeine products, such as coffee, matcha tea, chocolate, caffeinated tea, or energy drinks, and the person consuming them, is not one of equal give and take. Caffeine can, over time, cause symptoms and conditions resulting from burnt out adrenals and a weakened liver, these can include hair thinning, hair loss, nutrient deficiencies, accelerated aging, weight gain, loss of libido, and more.

Fight or Flight

Fight or flight is an innate privilege the body possesses; it is a hidden power and a gift that protects your body in compromising or stressful situations. When you are consuming caffeine, it is putting the adrenals in this fight or flight mode every day, and can drain them of their vitality. Caffeine becomes the boy who cried wolf. When your adrenals are in constant fight or flight because of daily caffeine consumption, the brain becomes numb to what is happening, so when a real problem occurs, there is potential for your brain to be slow on the draw.

Hair Thinning and Hair Loss

The number of women experiencing hair thinning and hair loss at a young age is skyrocketing. It is unknown to medical research and science that caffeine can burn out a specific, vital, undiscovered hormone that the adrenals produce. This hormone helps keep hair follicles alive, and act as the glue keeping hair on women’s heads. As adrenals are kept in constant fight or flight mode from caffeine consumption, this hormone begins to disappear over time, and can result in weakened hair follicles, hair thinning, and eventual hair loss. 

Caffeine and the Liver

The liver has many jobs, one of which is to process and convert every nutrient that enters the body, and put it to use. Caffeine can shock, burden, and weaken the liver, affecting the liver’s ability to process and convert nutrients properly, potentially leading to nutrient deficiencies. When the body is in constant fight or flight mode, which can be triggered by caffeine, adrenaline is released and sucked right into the liver, which can cause cell damage, and potentially weaken the liver’s immune system. 

Caffeine and Aging

Many people are taught that caffeinated products such as matcha tea, coffee, or chocolate are healthy, anti-aging, and can even help someone live longer, leading to an increase in caffeine consumption. In truth, caffeine products can accelerate aging, and this increased caffeine consumption is why some men and women are starting to age earlier in life. 

One reason caffeine can age the body is long-term, chronic dehydration. Coffee, matcha tea, caffeinated teas, and chocolate are diuretics that force critically needed hydration out of the living cells in your body, essentially starving the cells of what they need. Caffeine is a toxin, a low-grade poison, that prompts your body to want to rid it. Unfortunately, as your body is trying to rid you of this toxin, it throws the toxin out along with important nutrients, trace minerals, phytochemical compounds, critically needed enzymes, and antioxidants. In your body’s attempt to push caffeine out, it has no choice but to push out other important nutrients too. This chronic dehydration and flushing of important nutrients can lead to someone aging well before their time. 

Caffeine Withdrawal

As with any addictive substance, the process of withdrawing from caffeine can be difficult, and is a deterrent for many people. Neurons in the brain become saturated with caffeine and adrenaline, from the constant fight or flight response in the body, and when that caffeine and adrenaline leave the neurons, a shock and emotional crash can occur. 

When people use caffeinated beverages to help make their decisions, their brain and its neurons stop doing the work themselves, making them lazy and dependent. When caffeine is taken away, neurons, neurotransmitters, and electrical impulses need to fire up the engine again, and go from automatic back to manual. This change and withdrawal from caffeine can cause a misfire in the brain and potentially trigger a migraine, and other symptoms.

Addictive chemical compounds cause dependency in the emotional center of the brain, which is unknown to research and science. Feel good substances, such as coffee, caffeinated teas, and chocolate, can trigger an emotional connection to that caffeine in the emotional center of the brain, making it even harder to let go. This connection can lead to heightened emotions when that substance is taken away. 

Healing Tools

Getting off of caffeine can be a struggle for so many people. The following tools may help heal withdrawal quicker, and allow the brain to restart on its own without caffeine and adrenaline. 

Restoring neurotransmitters is an important step in healing caffeine withdrawal, and this is best done with electrolytes. Incorporating sixty ounces of coconut water a day, for one week, can benefit the brain and hydrate the body during caffeine withdrawal. Celery juice, the only complete electrolyte on the planet, would also be beneficial to incorporate, to help hydrate and restore neurotransmitters, bring back neurons, and safely guide you off of caffeine. During withdrawal, it would be best to consume sixteen to thirty-two ounces of celery juice twice a day, for one week. 

Trace minerals are the glue that allow communication between different centers of the brain, which become depleted over time from caffeine consumption. Consuming more trace minerals will assist in healing during caffeine withdrawal. Great sources of trace minerals include: the Medical Medium Spinach Soup, coconut water, celery juice, and the Medical Medium Healing Broth.

Glucose refills depleted glycogen storage banks in the brain that adrenaline, triggered by caffeine, burns out. Incorporating more glucose into your diet is a powerful tool when you’re getting off of caffeine, and can restore neurons and electrical impulses in the brain. A great option is to consume two mangos a day for one week, or more. It may be helpful when planning your withdrawal to have fresh or frozen mangoes available. 

Consuming thirty-two ounces of lemon water twice a day for two weeks, works wonders for hydration, which is critical during caffeine withdrawal. Lemon water is also living water, which is a powerful tool to flush out years of caffeine stored in the tissue, organs, cells and brain.

Healing Herbs and Supplements

During caffeine withdrawal, everything in the brain is trying to rewire and find its place again. Melatonin can be a helpful tool to calm neurons and electrical impulses down as the brain attempts to regain proper balance. 

Lemon balm calms and strengthens the central nervous system, aiding in the anxiety, depression, and nervousness that can come when getting off of caffeine, and going through withdrawal. The central nervous system becomes dependent on caffeine over time and lemon balm acts as a soothing ointment, giving the nervous system a better chance at making a smoother transition away from caffeine.

Muscles can become reliant on caffeine and adrenaline, and spasm when those substances are taken away. Magnesium Gylcinate helps with the muscle spasms that frequently occur when going through caffeine withdrawal.

Eggs - Eaters Lose All

In today’s world, eggs are considered a household staple. Unfortunately, eggs are no longer the incredible survival food they once were. How Pathogens Eat

Yes, these pathogens that cause chronic illness are alive and need to eat to survive. What is in an egg that bugs like to eat? Eggs contain protein, enzymes, and natural hormones. The proteins in an egg are not mature because they’re still in the development phase. For this reason, enzymes can attach to the protein in a unique process that only happens in an egg. This process makes it possible for the pathogen to easily absorb the proteins and enzymes through their membrane and use them for food.  

Stagnant, Sluggish Liver

The liver is a campground for large variations of toxins, poisons, pathogens, and other antagonists and troublemakers. Reproductive System Problems

Eggs are a favorite recommended food by doctors, for all women with reproductive system conditions. This leads to a reproductive nightmare for so many that are already struggling with their health. Directions:

Juice the apples using an electric juicer. 

Add the cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and orange peel to the juice. 

If you are serving the juice cold, let it infuse for at least 10 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve and serve. 

If you are serving it hot, place the juice in a small saucepan and heat until simmering. Turn the heat off and infuse for 5 to 10 minutes. (If you can avoid heating it up in the microwave, that’s ideal.) Strain through a fine-mesh sieve and serve.

In truth, these chemicals are disabling your ability to smell and releasing vaporized toxins into the air you breathe. These vaporized toxins then burden the lungs, building up a waxy, oily, chemical residue in your lung sacs and this may potentially reduce oxygen capacity. 

This oily residue from air fresheners and scented candles not only can potentially affect the lungs, but the liver as well, entering in through the bloodstream. This can result in reduced liver function and dehydration. When you’re burning a scented candle, and breathe in the vaporized toxins, those toxins make their way into your liver, and a feeding frenzy occurs. Yes, the viruses in your liver, like Epstein-Barr and Shingles, can feed on the toxic chemicals in air fresheners, scented candles, colognes, and perfumes. When the viruses in your liver are feeding on vaporized toxins from chemical fragrances in your home, they grow and reproduce, which can possibly lead to further illness, flare-ups, and even new symptoms. 

The chemicals used to create synthetic fragrances can potentially lower your immune system. This happens when the immune cells in your body (lymphocytes, monocytes, and neutrophils), get coated with the chemicals from air fresheners, scented candles, colognes, and perfumes. If these immune cells get coated in toxic chemicals, they can slow down, become weak, and not be at their best to fight viruses you’re exposed to. 

Chemical fragrances can have a burning effect on the nerves. This burning effect makes thenerves in your body extra sensitive and can have the potential to trigger symptoms such as migraines, burning skin, tightness in the chest, and anxiety. When you are exposed to toxic chemical fragrances, like plug-in air fresheners or scented candles, those toxins go up through your sinuses and into the brain. This oily, chemical-laden residue can stick to cells, intoxicatenerve cells, overstimulate the frontal lobe, and it’s possible to trigger an anxiety attack. 

If you suffer from allergies, chronic sinusitis, eye problems, dizziness, anxiety, headaches, or migraines, avoiding cologne and perfume would be especially helpful. 

Protecting Yourself 

To protect yourself from exposure to toxic chemicals, you may want to remove scented candles, air fresheners, incense, aftershave, colognes, perfumes, household cleaners, and fabric softeners from your home. If you prefer to slowly work up to removing these products from your home, I recommend starting with the two biggest troublemakers – scented candles and air fresheners. Chemical fragrances have a high saturation rate, and for this reason, the smell may still be in your home even after you have made the decision to remove them – do not let this discourage you. After removing air fresheners and scented candles from your home, take comfort knowing you are protecting yourself and your loved ones from new exposure. 

I recommend picking up an air purifier for your home and replacing your chemical-treated candles with natural, unscented ones. Do not be fooled by “natural fragrances” on product labels, this does not necessarily mean the product is natural, non-toxic, and safe. If you like to use essential oils in your home, try not to use a large amount, especially if you are sensitive. 

One reason chemical toxins and poisons stay in your body is chronic dehydration. When you’re dehydrated, the chemical toxins in your body don’t stand a chance at getting out. To stay hydrated, and fill your body with healing, nourishing foods, I recommend consuming more of the following foods: fresh fruit, leafy greens, fresh herbs, wild foods, vegetables, celery juice, and coconut water.

Red Pepper Hummus

It’s hard to beat a delicious homemade hummus recipe! This version with roasted red peppers adds a richness and burst of flavor that will keep you coming back for more. One of the best things about hummus is how versatile it is. A few of the ways you can enjoy it include as a dip, spooned onto salad or veggies, or as a sauce for gluten-free pasta. 

Bell peppers contain an impressive amount of vitamin C with up to as much as six times as oranges. Bell peppers are also packed with vitamin A and beta carotene which can help boost the immune system, improve vision, and help protect the eyes against cataracts. They are also an excellent source of potassium, fiber, thiamine, beta-carotene, folate, zeaxanthin, and lycopene and have been shown to help prevent blood clot formation and reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Red Pepper Hummus

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium-sized red peppers or 3/4 cup chopped jarred roasted red peppers (without citric acid, oil or vinegar)
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas (or 1 15 oz can, drained and rinsed)
  • 2 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice, to taste
  • Sea salt, to taste (optional)
  • 2-3 tbsp water, more if needed
  • Cilantro or parsley, to serve
  • Veggie sticks (celery, carrot, cucumber), to serve (optional)

Directions:

Place an oven-rack about 5 inches from the broiler. Turn the oven broiler on.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Core and slice peppers into large flat pieces. Align peppers on baking sheet, skin side up and broil on high for 10-15 minutes, until charred.

Remove the pepper from the oven, place in a bowl and cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap. Wait for 10-15 minutes for the pepper skins to soften. Remove peppers from the bowl and gently peel off the skin. Roughly chop.

Add the chopped peppers to a food processor or blender together with chickpeas, garlic, ground cumin, paprika, lemon juice, sea salt (if using) and water. Blend until smooth.

Serve topped with chopped fresh cilantro or parsley and a sprinkle of paprika.
