A sweet snack or meal that is easy to make and fun to eat for both adults and children, these Banana Lettuce Boats are delicious with or without the date caramel sauce. This recipe comes from the Revised and Expanded Edition of Medical Medium.
Bananas are a powerful antiviral food. High in tryptophan, bananas can help soothe sleep disorders, create calm, reduce anxiety, and alleviate depression. They are the ultimate fungus destroyers, removing unproductive bacteria while feeding beneficial microorganisms in the intestinal tract.
The leafy outer greens of lettuce provide dozens of micronutrients for the liver to stay healthy and balanced, while the core of the lettuce, down closer to the root, provides milky chemical compounds that act as a purging mechanism for it. When leafy greens are eaten with fruit, their medicinal qualities increase twofold.

Date caramel sauce (optional):
Arrange the lettuce leaves on plates or on a platter. Top each with a banana half, raisins (if using), and an optional sprinkle of cayenne (or cinnamon). Set aside.
To make the caramel sauce, add the dates, water, and lemon juice to a blender and blend until very smooth, scraping down the sides of the blender as needed. Spoon onto the Banana Lettuce Boats and serve immediately.
