A competitive athlete, Megan had symptoms and conditions since early childhood that were quietly building until she hit rock bottom in 2017. She was rapidly losing her life. If you or someone you love have been diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), there is likely a lot of confusion surrounding your doctor visits. They may have told you that POTS is an “autoimmune disease” and your body is attacking itself. It’s very important that you know this is not true. Your body never attacks itself. It is always trying to heal. The truth is that POTS is a result of multiple factors affecting the body that together are labeled as POTS. These factors include a viral infection, typically Epstein-Barr virus, along with heavy metal toxicity. These two factors together worsen symptoms because viruses feed off heavy metals and become stronger, producing viral neurotoxins that also inflame the nerves. Very often there’s also adrenal health issues due to the viruses affecting the liver which has in turn impacted the adrenals.
