Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s and motor neurone disease, is one of the most misunderstood mystery illnesses today. The misinformation being spread about ALS and the incorrect diagnoses of this illness is resulting in devastating consequences for those who are told they have the condition. If you or a loved one suffers with ALS, it is important that you know there is hope. When you are handed an ALS diagnosis, it often comes with a life-threatening concern but it doesn’t have to be this way. Healing is possible. But first it’s vital to understand what’s really behind ALS.
Behind the ALS Label
The technical name of this disease in Greek means “without nourishment to muscles.” Although doctors have a label to give to people, ALS is still a complete mystery illness to medical communities. In the conventional medical world you will most likely hear ALS described as a motor neurone disease. This is almost true. Medical science and research don’t yet know that ALS is actually a viral inflammatory illness where the viruses involved are feeding off a certain level of toxic heavy metals in the system and this can affect neurons. Usually a high level of aluminum is one of the metals present in the brain and other parts of the body.
If you have been given an ALS label, you likely have a variety of heavy metals in your system, including an abundance of aluminum. As I share in my book Medical Medium, these toxic metals are the perfect fuel for viruses, and in the case of ALS, there is a severe viral infection in the body feeding on these metals. Typically there will be a severe viral infection of HHV-6 coupled with a few other herpes virus strains. When symptoms increase in severity and mild tingles and numbness turn into acute loss of muscle control, it is often due to severe brain inflammation triggered by the viral infection. If you find yourself in a wheelchair and doctors seem apprehensive about your chances of survival, it is possible that your body is overrun with viruses. Once you reach this point, you can still turn your condition around. Do not lose hope! In this instance, working with a doctor or practitioner to create a healing protocol that incorporates foods and supplements that help to naturally fight against viruses and draw heavy metals out of the body is critical.
Medical communities are still tragically unaware of the true causes of people’s suffering when it comes to most neurological symptoms and conditions. If someone gets into a car accident and endures a brain injury that is visible on an MRI test, a doctor knows the cause of his or her neurological issues. But when mystery illnesses arise, medical communities are not yet able to provide patients with accurate and adequate information. A doctor may try to blame your genes or suggest that your body is attacking itself, but these trendy ideas are incorrect and damaging. I discuss this indepth in my book Thyroid Healing.
A Reckless Diagnosis
ALS is a real illness, just like other chronic illnesses, but the unsupportive beliefs attached to the ALS label can destroy a person’s health rather than help him or her see that he or she is fully capable of rising from the ashes of this condition.
Being handed an ALS label today can have a similar affect on someone as the affect a HIV/AIDS diagnosis had on people during the 1980s AIDS crisis. This retrovirus was not the reason people were dying, but because a death sentence was so strongly associated with this diagnosis, people quickly fell into a hopeless, despairing headspace that greatly affected their overall health. Many of the people who had this virtually benign retrovirus were also suffering from terrible varieties of streptococcus that triggered pneumatic problems, a host of herpes viruses including HHV-7, HHV-8, HHV-9, and the undiscovered varieties I brought to light including HHV-10, HHV-11, and HHV-12, and/or suffered from exposure to pollutants, toxins, drugs, and toxic heavy metals. For a number of reasons, other than the retrovirus, people were experiencing the complete breakdown of their immune systems. When people were given an HIV/AIDS diagnosis in the early to mid 80s, they did not even consider the possibility that they could survive, and this led many people to quickly give up and fall apart mentally and physically. The reason it appears as though very few people are dying from HIV anymore is because the sources perpetuating this damaging falsehood quieted. This is allowing people’s immune systems to strengthen and stay fortified. An ALS diagnosis seems to affect people similarly, which is why I often refer to it as a “reckless diagnosis.” It is important to understand the weight a diagnosis can have on an individual. If the person is given positive news, the relief she or he feels can be wonderful. But if that same individual is given a reckless diagnosis, the immense fear can weigh on them and panic may set in. And if a person has severe viral infections, their condition may worsen from the fear and panic.
In the medical world, diagnosing ALS is basically a guessing game. The doctor will likely observe the patient struggling with more and more symptoms as the prescribed immunosuppressive drugs, steroids, or antibiotics fail to improve the patient’s condition. If the patient continues to steadily decline, the doctor may give the patient an ALS label. Another doctor may disagree and deem it a different neurological disease that doesn’t produce as much terror and uncertainty as an ALS label does.
The current neurological testing doctors use to identify ALS is far from error-free and rarely offers information that doctors can use with complete certainty. Numerous neurologists I’ve spoken with have agreed with me on this issue. They have mentioned multiple cases where perfectly healthy patients have had worrisome results show up on neurological tests. Yet the patient had never struggled with the suggested issues and these issues never arose as time progressed. You may still want to have neurological testing done, but it is helpful to be aware of the tests’ potential inaccuracies before you move forward with the process.
Men Versus Women
Men are more commonly diagnosed with ALS than women. Although there is not a huge difference in frequency of diagnosis between genders, it is still a variation worth noting. Although men have often been considered stronger than women in various ways throughout history, when it comes to battling illness, women have consistently demonstrated a stronger will to live than their male counterparts.
Women possess a mighty will to survive, grow stronger, and bear the elements. This fiery will not only helps women bear the weight of a diagnosis better than most men, but it also helps women bear any symptoms and conditions they are up against better as well. For this reason, a woman who experiences a symptom of a chronic illness will usually be able to tolerate it reasonably well, while a man, experiencing the same symptom may struggle more both mentally and emotionally. In many cases, men quickly decline after being handed diagnoses that cause them to feel unwell or useless for a prolonged period of time. This is especially true in cases where there is a sense of hopelessness already attached to the label, such as in the case of ALS. There are some men who match women in their strong will to survive, and there are some women whose wills aren’t quite as robust as others, but in general, a woman’s will is incredible and noteworthy.
Overcoming an ALS Diagnosis
James, a client I worked with years ago, age 47, had started noticing stiffness in his hands, shoulders, and legs while working at his factory job. At first he attributed these symptoms to aging, decreased the number of hours he spent woodworking on the weekends, and tried to increase the time he spent resting. Instead of the symptoms disappearing though, new symptoms emerged alongside the stiffness, such as muscle twitching in various parts of the body. One morning while shaving, James discovered numbness in part of his face. This additional symptom prompted him to visit a doctor. The first doctor, who was unsure what label to give the symptoms, directed James to a neurologist. Tests the neurologist ran did not show anything conclusive, so the neurologist diagnosed James with ALS based off his symptoms alone. Unfortunately, this was a completely incorrect diagnosis. In actuality, James was exhibiting symptoms of Guillain-Barré syndrome, another mystery condition whose cause is still unknown within medical communities, but whose real cause I shared in my first book Medical Medium.
Shortly after James was handed an ALS diagnosis, he began experiencing twitches. He sought out the opinion of two other specialists, neither of whom contradicted the neurologist’s ALS diagnosis. James was given a time frame of about five to seven years. At the end of these years, the specialists did not overtly declare that James would pass away, but suggested that his body would have completely fallen apart. This news left James in a constant state of stress. He began barely sleeping and spent much of his time agonizing over his seemingly hopeless future. He started feeling useless at his job and worthless when it came to providing for his family. The lack of sleep, stress, and emotional turmoil exacerbated James’s symptoms and the muscle twitching, stiffness and numbness grew worse. This only fed James’s growing panic. Around this time, James’s wife, Julie, learned of me and sought out an appointment.
James and his wife did not reveal the symptoms James was experiencing or the label he’d been given when we first started the session. Nevertheless, Spirit quickly began to disclose what was wrong. I relayed to them that James had a herpes virus, HHV-6, in his brain as well as heavy metals, which included high levels of aluminum and copper. After this assessment, the couple remarked that they must’ve come to the wrong place because James was diagnosed with ALS. I explained to James that he had merely been given a label for his mystery illness, not a true cause. I made it clear that medical research and medical science still doesn’t understand the underlying issues for people who are given an ALS label. Once James understood that ALS was only a man-made label for something medical communities were still working to unravel, he grew more open to what I had to say.
I explained to James and his wife that a viral inflammatory condition in James’s brain was responsible for his neurological problems. Not only was his body battling HHV-6, but it was fighting against two other herpesviruses as well. These viruses, which had invaded both his brain and spinal cord, were feeding off the high level of aluminum, as well as other heavy metals that were present in his system.
Spirit recommended James return to the factory he had been working at and ask for an exposure investigation. James met with the factory foreman and an investigation took place. Upon investigation, it was discovered that aluminum oxide gas had been spewing out of a damaged ventilator pipe in the area James had been working. This aluminum dust and vapor, byproduct from aluminum work, had been silently poisoning the factory workers for months until Spirit made it known. This finding helped ignite James’s faith in the recommendations I had made for his health.
Once James no longer believed he was close to dying, his symptoms quickly improved. Gradually the mild twitching and mild stiffness he had dealt with initially disappeared as well from following the healing steps I provided him with. Part of his protocol was the heavy metal detox plan, which helped draw aluminum, copper, and mercury out of his body and brain. He also used natural antiviral supplements to fight off HHV-6 and the other herpes viruses in his system.
Instead of suffering for five years until his body completely fell apart, like specialists had predicted, James fully healed and was able to embrace the life he had been living prior to his illness.
Steps to Heal
Over the decades I’ve helped a number of other people completely reverse their ALS-labeled neurological symptoms. Many medical communities still believe that ALS is eventually a death sentence, but that’s not true and it doesn’t have to be that way. You too have the ability to put these symptoms behind you and live a full, vibrant life. Below are some suggestions and recommendations that may help you begin your healing journey.
Glucose & Mineral Salts
If you are suffering with a neurological symptom or condition, bringing ample glucose into your diet is critical. The central nervous system needs an abundance of the natural sugar found in fruits and starchy vegetables like potatoes and sweet potatoes when you are working to heal from a neurological disease. Your nerves and muscles will thank you for any natural sugars you are able to incorporate into your daily meals and snacks.
High fat and protein and low carbohydrate diets are not preferable for anyone suffering with ALS, Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), or any other neurological symptoms or conditions. If you are healthy and do not have any chronic health issues, you may want to explore different diets, but if you are suffering with a neurological problem, a diet filled with an abundance of natural glucose from is critical.
The central nervous system also benefits from a diet rich in mineral salts. Kale, spinach, celery juice, and other mineral salt-rich foods can help play a vital role in reversing neurological conditions. The adrenal health snacks I offer on my blog would be helpful also.
Sweet potatoes and other carbohydrate-rich foods help build your muscles. This may comes as a surprise, because many people incorrectly believe protein helps build muscle. In truth though, only two things help to build up muscles: consuming carbohydrates and actually using the muscles. Glucose builds muscle quickly. If you are doubting this, just picture the muscular, three hundred pound apes at the zoo who are snacking on bananas and figs.
People suffering with neurological conditions often do not use their muscles as much as individuals who aren’t suffering with health issues. This is true for people fighting ALS symptoms, neurological chronic fatigue, and more. Some people are too sick to get out of bed let alone walk around or exercise. In these instances, it is vitally important that the person feed his or her muscles with carbohydrates. Feeding your muscles with glucose-filled foods can help you keep from wasting away as you work to combat your neurological disease. This is another reason to temporarily avoid a high protein or high fat diet like a ketogenic or paleo diet while healing from a neurological condition. Low to no healthy carbohydrate diets offered to people suffering with neurological conditions can cause rapid wasting away syndrome or disease, which can then get mistaken as the label ALS or even worsening MS when that’s not the truth.
I’ve watched people waste away faster than usual from ALS and other neurological conditions because they have been fed protein-heavy diets. If someone in this situation were to work with me, I would try to encourage them to bring avocados, potatoes, fruits, and other carbohydrate-dense foods into their meals and snacks. The abundance of lysine and the numerous amino acids found in all different varieties of potatoes can be especially powerful for helping maintain and/or strengthen muscles. If you eat meat alongside your potatoes, the animal protein may prevent the potatoes from offering their many benefits to the muscles. To obtain the maximum benefits from healing foods, it is best to separate your carbohydrate-heavy meals, such as a bowl of potatoes or dish of fruit, from any animal protein you choose to bring into your diet.
If you increase the amount of fruit and starchy vegetables you bring into your diet, and greatly reduce your protein intake, you maybe able to maintain and/or strengthen your muscles. When you supply your body with ample carbohydrates, if you reach to scratch an itch on your face or wave hello to a friend, the muscle cells and tissue will have adequate fuel to take in and use. If you perform those same movements, but have not been supplying your body with adequate carbohydrates, it will only serve to weaken your body. This doesn’t mean you need to eliminate all protein-dense foods, but reducing these options and increasing healthy carbohydrates, especially from fruit and vegetables like potatoes and squashes, when you are healing from a neurological problem can be valuable.
Filling your diet with an abundance of fruits, vegetables, and leafy greens is critical as you work to reverse neurological issues connected to ALS. The antioxidants and phytochemicals found in these foods are vital for healing. Dive into my book Life-Changing Foods for some top healing food suggestions.
Wild blueberries are a powerful weapon against ALS-related symptoms. It is important you bring frozen wild blueberries into your diet if you are seeking to heal your neurological problems. Pomegranates, cherries, and oranges can offer valuable support as well. The electrolytes found in melons are amazing and can aid anyone working to reverse their ALS symptoms. Aloe vera and wheatgrass are two other foods to consider incorporating. Leafy greens are important because they contain precious mineral salts, but they don’t have the caloric density of other fruits and vegetables, so when you eat leafy greens make sure to bring in bananas, potatoes, dates, mangos, dried apricots, lentils, black beans, quinoa, which is a grain that people tend to tolerate well, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, or other carbohydrate-rich foods alongside your greens.
The heavy metal detox, which is detailed in my first book, Medical Medium, and discussed on my blog can be an incredible piece of the healing puzzle. Barley grass juice extract powder, Hawaiian spirulina, cilantro, Atlantic dulse, and wild blueberries are the five powerfully detoxifying components of this cleanse.
An incredible supplement for ALS is alpha-lipoic acid (ALA). Chaga mushroom can help kill viruses and is surprisingly useful for people with aluminum in their system. A high-quality B-12 that contains both adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin is a valuable supplement for someone suffering with any neurological symptom or condition. Ginkgo leaf contains an alkaloid that can help support neurotransmitters, which is particularly important for people suffering with neurological conditions and/or have been given a serious ALS diagnosis. N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) helps support the central nervous system, including the myelin sheath surrounding nerves. Lemon balm possesses powerful antiviral attributes especially against viruses in the herpes family. A small amount of ionic gold can offer support as well. Although vitamin D is not as vitally important as most people within the medical world suggest, when you are healing from a neurological condition supplementing with a small amount, such a daily dose of 2,000 IUs, can be supportive. Dandelion and milk thistle can help support the liver, which usually, along with the brain, contains heavy metals. A high-quality liposomal Vitamin C can be great to incorporate into your protocol. Coenzyme Q10, vitamin E, turmeric, and curcumin can offer additional beneficial support. For high-quality supplement recommendations, check out my preferred supplements page.
If you’ve been given an ALS diagnosis, try your hardest to stay light hearted and not fall victim to the unproductive label medical research and medical science have placed on a variety of mystery symptoms. The neurological condition you are suffering from is not a death sentence and is something you are fully capable of healing from and moving past. Unfortunately, you will not hear the true causes behind ALS symptoms or the exact ways to heal anywhere except here. There is a lot of misinformation circulating, and it is important you hold onto these truths now that you have learned them. Keep coming back to this information as often as needed.
This condition may seem scary, but now that you’ve been given this knowledge, you have the power to heal! Herpes viruses and toxic heavy metals only seem scary until you shine a light on them, understand what they are, and adopt the tools and practices needed to eliminate these pesky chaos creators. When you are given the right information, you are given the power to heal, and that’s what you’ve been given today.
For humans, even those in the medical communities, the body is still an unknown world. Imagine every organ as its very own, barely-known galaxy, and know that the beautiful way in which the brain works is far from being understood. You may not comprehend every little intricacy of the body, but you can hold onto the truth that your body is always working for you. My hope is that you can move forward with life-changing knowledge, restored motivation, and a new found faith in your body’s ability to heal.
