“If you have a shaky history with sodium and the word makes you nervous, let me assure you that the sodium in celery juice is beneficial. Even if you’re on a low-sodium diet, you can still have celery juice. It’s not like eating a food that’s had table salt—or even healthier salts like Himalayan rock salt or Celtic sea salt—thrown on it. While your body does not see regular salt added to food as a friend, it accepts the sodium from celery juice as one of its own.

Celery juice is on your side. It actually removes crystallized toxic salts that have been in your organs for years. Now, if you get a blood test when you’re on celery juice, it could show elevated sodium. What the test is really detecting are these old, toxic salts that celery juice is rounding up and sending out of your body. Plus, chances are you haven’t given up table salt, so the blood analysis is picking up on that salt in your system as well. Blood testing isn’t nuanced enough to pick up on the difference.

A blood test could detect some sodium from celery juice, too, although it’s going to be what I call macro sodium, a common form of plant sodium that’s entirely healthy and needed. It’s so beneficial and balancing that it doesn’t spike the blood—meaning that if a blood test is displaying elevated sodium, celery juice’s sodium isn’t causing it. Elevated sodium levels are also not caused by celery juice’s sodium cluster salts. A blood test isn’t sensitive enough to pick up on celery juice’s sodium cluster salts; testing isn’t geared to find them, because they’re a subgroup of sodium that hasn’t been discovered yet by research and science.

So celery juice’s beneficial macro sodium only stabilizes the blood; it won’t lead to high sodium readings. Again, though, it could take a little time to get to those stabilized readings, or they could come and go, because (1) it’s really easy to overindulge in table salt, since it’s practically everywhere, and that’s going to show up on a blood test, and (2) periodically, celery juice is going to be clearing out pockets of old, toxic salt as it reaches them deep in the organs, and that’s going to throw off blood test interpretations.

Celery juice’s complicated structures of beneficial sodium are elevated above other types, with different jobs and responsibilities. This is an entirely different make and model of sodium. It serves as a critical component of neurotransmitters—better said, it’s the ultimate neurotransmitter chemical. It’s what makes celery juice the most powerful electrolyte beverage on the planet. Nothing can surpass or even equal it.

Let’s talk more about the undiscovered subgroup of celery juice’s sodium that I call sodium cluster salts. “Sodium” and “salt” may sound a bit redundant, and yet it communicates that they are mineral salts that cluster around the macro sodium in celery juice. That is, sodium cluster salts are a separate acting group of compounds that surround the element we know as sodium in celery, all of it arranged in a structured form, almost like our solar system. Trace minerals also reside in these living, moving clusters. Some trace minerals are bonded to the sodium cluster salts themselves, and some simply float inside the clusters.

There is information for us within these clusters. That’s rare. For the most part, plants are all about themselves. (Sound a bit like humans sometimes?) The information they contain is largely geared to sustaining themselves in their habitat, to accessing nourishment, to survival. Celery is different. Some of its information is for us, or for other animals consuming it. Sodium cluster salts aren’t there as a defense mechanism or to keep the celery healthy as it’s growing; they aren’t there to keep the plant alive. They’re for us. Sodium cluster salts contain information for our own well-being that’s activated when it enters our bodies. Information from the plant—the herb—itself and information from the sun as the plant was growing. Information about its purpose and how it can help the creature consuming it. Information about the complex job of extending our lives. Even if celery is grown in poor soil, it will still possess its cluster salts.

All salt is not the same. Although it can be easy to believe that sodium is sodium whether it’s in the ocean, a vegetable, soil, rock, or a salt lake, it’s not. If viewing it properly in a chemist’s lab, a technician would discover the various salts contained within the sodium in celery juice. That technician would find that the salts cluster around each other, acting as one—as the sodium in no other herb, vegetable, or mineral does. Not even the salt in the ocean behaves in the particular way that this humble herb’s does.

The sodium cluster salts in celery juice are able to neutralize toxins as they’re floating through the bloodstream and organs. That means that when the cluster salts touch them, they disarm the troublemakers, making them more friendly and acceptable to the body and less toxic, so that they don’t do harm to our human cells and organ tissue.

Toxic heavy metals are a particular type of toxin that celery juice’s sodium cluster salts take on. Heavy metals have a destructive, active charge to them that causes the metals to be damaging to liver cells, brain cells, and other cells throughout the body. Cluster salts defuse the charge, rendering them inactive and less aggressive, specifically disarming toxic heavy metals such as copper, mercury, and aluminum.

Sodium cluster salts also fight off unwanted bacteria and viruses. (You’ll read so much more about this ability throughout the next chapter.) Tricky bugs such as strep can’t become resistant or immune to them, the way they can to pharmaceutical antibiotics, so the cluster salts keep on working as you drink celery juice over time. Celery juice’s mineral salts are able to kill off bacterial, fungal, and viral overgrowth as they travel through the small intestine and colon, and even once they’re absorbed into the bloodstream and pulled up into the liver through the hepatic portal vein. They’re an incredible antiseptic in this way, enhancing your entire body’s immune system.

These mineral salts are also able to support the liver in producing bile. That’s partly because the cluster salts enter the bile to make it stronger and partly because the celery juice rejuvenates the liver overall, allowing it to function properly and produce bile more efficiently. This is one aspect of what makes celery juice extraordinary for the liver.

To recap: The sodium in celery juice is suspended in living water within the celery. Inside that living water are sodium cluster salts, tightly connected to it. So the cluster salts surround and suspend sodium, and they’re also varieties of sodium themselves. The different forms of sodium become one and they’re also separate. That’s how celery juice is structured. Medical research and science haven’t identified this yet because they haven’t tried to look beyond “celery has salt.” It’s not nearly that simple. If they analyze it superficially, it’s going to look like salt. If they analyzed it further, they would be able to separate out and identify the different varieties of sodium within celery juice. And then they would be closer to identifying all that these sodium cluster salts do for our health.

Rather than having to wait decades for these medical answers, you already hold them in your hands. You’ll find out so much about the surprising and potent benefits of sodium cluster salts throughout this book, particularly in the next chapter, “Relief from Your Symptoms and Conditions.”

The best juicer for juicing celery is a cold press masticating juicer. Masticating juicers more gently and slowly extract the juice from celery and don’t generate as much heat during the juicing process. This helps to preserve as much of the nutrients in your celery as possible and minimize oxidation.

My favorite masticating juicer for celery juice is the MM900HDS Omega Low Speed Masticating Celery Juicer–it’s so good we have licensed our name for use on this model. This juicer was specially designed to extract as much juice as possible from celery specifically–more than any other juicer model. This means you will use less celery to get your sixteen ounces or more of celery juice than you would if you used another juicer model. The result is that you spend less money on celery.

Masticating juicers such as this one also juice celery with very little heat being generated. When a juicer generates too much heat in the juicing process it oxidizes the celery and diminishes its nutrient value more quickly. The MM900HDS Omega Low Speed Masticating Celery Juicer produces high-quality, cold-pressed juice. It uses a low speed of 80 RPMs, which results in minimal heat buildup and oxidation and more nutrient-rich juice.

This juicer is a dual stage juicer, which means the juice is first extracted by crushing the fruit or vegetable. Then, before the pulp is ejected, the pulp is squeezed during the second pressed stage. This results in a higher yield of juice and a very dry pulp. The MM900HDS Omega Low Speed Masticating Celery Juicer has an adjustable celery end cap attachment for maximum celery juice output and extraction and also includes a standard adjustable end cap for juicing other produce. There are 3 adjustable pressure settings on each.

Another benefit of the MM900HDS Omega Low Speed Masticating Celery Juicer is that it’s quiet. This makes it the perfect juicer for making celery juice first thing in the morning–because celery juice is best consumed in the morning on an empty stomach–without waking up anyone else in your home.

Centrifugal juicers will still juice celery, but they just won’t extract as much juice or preserve as many nutrients. Celery juice made in a centrifugal juicer and consumed right away is still healing. However, if you are able to use the MM900HDS Omega Low Speed Masticating Celery Juicer, the juice produced will be higher quality, richer in nutrients, you’ll get more juice from less celery.

As mentioned, the MM900HDS Omega Low Speed Masticating Celery Juicer was built to maximize juice extraction from celery, however it also juices fruits, vegetables, leafy greens and wheatgrass so you can use it for any juice you desire. You can find out more about the MM900HDS Omega Low Speed Masticating Celery Juicer on Omega’s website.

Leafy greens get a little bit of attention in health circles, but for most people, they are not ever given a thought. If anything, the focus is on vegetables and rarely leafy greens. Whichever diet you subscribe to—vegan, paleo, vegetarian, keto or just a standard American diet—if you’re not getting enough leafy greens, the future of your health is in jeopardy. That might seem like a strong statement, but it’s the truth. If you’re not consuming enough raw leafy greens regularly, you will eventually experience some health challenges. Raw leafy greens, such as lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, mâche, watercress, collard greens, purslane and kale, are that critical for our wellbeing.

Source of Elevated Biotics & Enemy To Bad Bacteria

Still undiscovered by research and science, elevated biotics are a type of microorganism found on raw leafy greens that I brought to light in Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal. These microorganisms are responsible for producing the ultimate methylated form of B12 that absorbs into the channels of your body and finds its way back to your liver when called for. As I share in Medical Medium Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease, “this B12 is the liver’s number-one most important mortar to hold together all the bricks that build the castle of your health. When there’s enough of it, the liver stores ample amounts to send into the bloodstream as an assistant to almost every vitamin, mineral, and other nutrient that it releases to aid your body in any way. It’s the B12 that makes everything go right”. To understand where to find these elevated biotics and exactly how they work in the body to perform critical functions, you can read Life-Changing Foods and Liver Rescue. These elevated biotics on unwashed (or very lightly washed), organic, raw leafy greens also help to repopulate your intestinal tract with good bacteria.

Additionally, raw leafy greens sweep the walls of the intestines, gently massaging your duodenum, small intestine, and colon, clearing away bad bacteria and rancid fats and proteins that have gone undigested for years. This build up is part of the reason someone can experience bloating or gastritis—and simply taking a probiotic isn’t going to fix it. Probiotics don’t kill bad bacteria. They don’t kill streptococcus or E.coli. A high quality probiotic definitely has a place in health, but they don’t do even a fraction of the healing work that elevated biotics do. The trace minerals found in leafy greens are prebiotics that feed good bacteria and kill off bad bacteria.

If your stomach feels uncomfortable when you eat raw leafy greens, it means you have colonies of bad bacteria that have been building up in your gut, elevating levels of inflammation, and over sensitizing the nerves of your intestinal lining. This translates to intestinal discomfort whenever you eat anything that’s not soft, smooth and fiberless, like a piece of white bread, an egg or plain chicken. These foods sit in the stomach and become gooey, making you feel you’re digesting them well, when, in truth, you’re actually not digesting them well because these particular foods don’t digest well in general. They are sticky foods and hang around in the intestines.

Due to this sensitivity, when you eat something that isn’t totally soft and smooth and contains fiber, such as lettuce or kale, and you experience some discomfort or symptoms, the leafy green appears to be the problem food. But in reality it’s just because you have sensitive nerves that you feel these foods moving through your intestines. Raw leafy greens and other healing foods are actually helping to clean away the build-up of bad bacteria and rancid fats and proteins that are causing you to be sensitive in the first place. Eating foods like grass fed butter, eggs, and cheese, while soft and smooth feeling, only propagate the bad bacteria causing these issues. You can understand more of the reasons why these foods are best avoided if you have any chronic symptom or illness in Liver Rescue.

Another element is that when you’re stressed, your adrenals purge and flood your body with adrenaline. That adrenaline gets into the intestinal tract and destroys good bacteria and microorganisms in the gut, creating a playground for bad bacteria.

Mineral Salts, Electrolytes, and Vitamins

Leafy greens hold precious and vital mineral salts that are critical for our health. As I share in Life-Changing Foods, “for our bodies to function optimally, we need to have enough mineral salts in our diets. Leafy greens such as spinach provide bioavailable forms of potassium, sodium, and chloride that mean everything when it comes to keeping our systems strong so we can fight off the Unforgiving Four (see Life-Changing Foods to learn about these four factors that cause illness and symptoms today) and other invaders. Leafy greens are also rich in trace mineral salts that contain particularly bioavailable forms of the minerals that the body craves (and that science has not yet discovered).

Mineral salts allow information to travel throughout the body so it can keep itself in balance no matter what’s occurring. They are instrumental in the electricity created by the heart and brain that governs all the other organs in the body. Mineral salts keep the heart pumping and create the neurotransmitters needed to take information from point A to point B in the brain—that is, from neuron to neuron. Mineral salts keep the kidneys and adrenals functioning and create hydrochloric acid in the gut so that your body can break down and assimilate what you eat.

Mineral salts are also temperature-regulating for the entire body; they stop us from overheating and prevent us from getting cold. Without mineral salts, we would be constantly susceptible to dehydration, severe edema, and unproductive diuretic conditions. They are that integral to keeping you alive and well so that you’re in the best place to deal with whatever comes your way.

The sodium cluster salts in celery juice, which are a subgroup of sodium, are a special and powerful example of how healing mineral salts are. Sixteen ounces of celery juice on an empty stomach in the morning specifically targets bad bacteria, destroying it so the dead bad bacteria can then become a food source for good bacteria to feed off of. While celery is an herb, it warrants mentioning here because it is such a powerful healing food. To ensure you receive its benefits, you have to know how to drink it in the right way, which is what I describe in Medical Medium Celery Juice: The Most Powerful Medicine of Our Time Healing Millions Worldwide. Raw leafy greens contain their own types of mineral salts and different leafy greens can contain different minerals. For example, spinach contains trace bioavailable iodine, chromium, sulfur, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and manganese, all critical for neuron support. Even if you drink celery juice, you still need your leafy greens.

Leafy greens are critical forms of electrolytes. Vitamin A, B, folic acid, healing alkaloids, disease fighting compounds, and micronutrients for restoring the endocrine system can all be found in leafy greens. These powerful foods provide a unique group of nutrients that feed all organ systems. Without leafy greens, the rest of your diet just won’t be enough to keep you healthy, especially considering the types of viruses and bacteria we face today, which cause symptoms such as headaches, tingles and numbness, body aches and pains, fatigue, brain fog, and many more.

Bioavailable Protein

If you worry about getting enough protein, fret no more. Leafy greens have the most bioavailable and assimilable proteins you can find, readily available for your body to take up. Leafy greens help reverse all protein-related diseases, such as gout, kidney disease, kidney stones, gallstones, gallbladder disease, osteopenia, osteoporosis, and heart disease. Protein not breaking down can contribute to these diseases and cause deterioration of the body.

Juicing Leafy Greens

One fantastic way to get the benefits of leafy greens is to juice them. Try juicing some celery and/or cucumber with leafy greens like spinach, kale or romaine, and some apple, lemon and ginger if you like. If you’re wondering why you should juice your greens when your ancestors were simply picking them from the garden and eating them, the answer is simple—we are living in a different world now. The toxins, pollutants, viruses and bacteria that we are up against now are so much worse than they’ve ever been. Bad bacteria are building up in our digestive tracts by the millions. Streptococcus, E.coli, C. diff, staph, and even bad fungus; they sit inside our intestinal tracts, thriving and taking up space, making it harder to absorb the nutrients we need. We also have sluggish and stagnant livers that are overburdened by toxins and pathogens, which means they aren’t functioning optimally. Plus we are loaded with toxic heavy metals and viruses.

Juicing increases the potency and the quantity of the critical nutrients we receive from raw leafy greens and helps to replenish deficiencies. It also takes out some of the work for your digestive system. Freshly made juice with raw leafy greens is essentially pre-digested, making it a liquid infusion for your cells that’s easily absorbed.

If you’re afraid of raw vegetables and salads because you find them irritating to the gut, that probably means you have a hypersensitive intestinal tract. Juicing is a wonderful remedy for anyone with digestive sensitivities. Plus you can also get larger quantities of raw leafy greens into your diet with a juice than if you ate them whole or even blended them (blending is another healing way to include raw leafy greens, such as in the Medical Medium Spinach Soup).

None of this means you shouldn’t eat your greens, but juicing can be a vital key to recovering your health and healing deficiencies.

Cooking and Leafy Greens

Oftentimes people like to cook leafy greens, such as collard greens, spinach, bok choy, swiss chard, and kale. While these greens are incredibly healing in their raw form, it’s best to avoid cooking them. When leafy greens are steamed, sauteed, fried, roasted or cooked in any other way, it alters the naturally occurring oxalic acid (which is not at all harmful when leafy greens are raw) and makes it into a form that becomes less usable by the body. This is one reason leafy greens are best consumed raw.

Raw Leafy Greens

Butter lettuce, arugula, mache, watercress, swiss chard, red and green leaf lettuce, romaine, spinach and kale are all alkalizing greens that make great salads. They can also be added into smoothies. Most people will find spinach is a mild addition to smoothies, sauces, dressings and raw soups.

Most people have never eaten enough raw leafy greens, so they’re already deficient in the mineral salts and nutrients these special foods can provide. Now that you know how important leafy greens are, you can start including plenty of them every day. At a minimum, every adult should consume at least two and a half cups of chopped raw leafy greens per day. For someone with a chronic illness or symptom, much more per day would be helpful to bring back their health, along with the other healing information I share in the Medical Medium book series. A pound a day of leafy greens could be very helpful for someone in this situation. If you can’t manage it every day, take baby steps. Can you have a big green salad or my spinach soup twice a week? Can you add 2 cups of spinach into your favorite fruit smoothie? Can you have a green juice a few times per week? Start there and take it one day at a time.

It’s also important to include certain green powder supplements for their specific healing properties and concentration of nutrients, including spirulina and barley grass juice powder. These two green powders are very special and when both are taken daily, they act as a multi-vitamin and multi-mineral that is helpful for healing and as one powerful step to assist in the prevention of future deficiencies and symptoms. My Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie is an ideal way to get these powders into your diet daily and also includes the herb cilantro and the sea leaf vegetable dulse. While these foods aren’t leafy greens, they are also vitally important.

To understand more about how leafy greens can help you, I recommend reading Life-Changing Foods. Leafy greens help with depression, infertility, anxiety, adrenal fatigue, insomnia, skin disorders, hormone imbalances, heart palpitations, brain fog, dizziness—the list goes on. Leafy greens also help rebuild your body’s hydrochloric acid, strengthen digestion, limit pancreatic issues, and help prevent diabetes in the future. If your current diet regimen or health professional isn’t telling you to eat leafy greens, that diet is falling short. It’s important to become your own health expert and empower yourself with the information you need to heal and take care of your health in the future. Leafy greens is one great way to do that.

In the medical world, shingles seems like an open-and-shut case. You’ve got a patient with the textbook rash, nerve pain on the side or back, and that’s all, folks. The truth is that the shingles virus is responsible for millions of people’s mystery symptoms, from rashes that confound dermatologists to neurological symptoms like twitching, tingling, burning, spasms, chronic migraines, headaches, and much more. Varieties of shingles are responsible for Bell’s palsy, frozen shoulder, diabetic nerve pain, colitis, vaginal burning, burning in other areas, TMJ, Lyme disease, sciatic pain, and even misdiagnosed MS.

What doctors don’t yet know is that there isn’t merely one type of shingles virus, but over 30 varieties. This matters because different types of shingles cause different symptoms. It also matters because medical communities don’t even recognize the majority of shingles cases as being the result of a virus. For example, any of the more aggressive varieties of shingles can cause Lyme disease symptoms yet doctors currently believe Lyme disease is caused by bacteria. (For more on Lyme disease, see Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal.)

To understand how shingles works in the body, the different types of shingles viruses, and how to heal, check out the chapter on this virus also in Medical Medium.

Certain foods can greatly aid the body in healing from shingles varieties with and without rashes. They can help by, variously, attacking the different strains of the virus, supporting the body in recovery from neurotoxin flare-ups, boosting the immune system, healing nerves and stimulating nerve growth, soothing inflamed skin, and detoxifying the body. Below you will find 12 of the foods that help heal shingles. Include them daily or as often as possible.

Celery juice’s subgroup of sodium that I call “sodium cluster salts” inhibit the growth of shingles (and other pathogens). The sodium cluster salts also attach themselves to the viral neurotoxins that are responsible for so many neurological health issues and carry them out of the body safely so that nerves are less exposed to shingles damaging neurotoxins. The unique form of vitamin C in celery juice fuels the immune system so it can seek out and destroy shingles. These are just a few of the ways celery juice helps. For more on it’s incredible healing properties check out Medical Medium Celery Juice: The Most Powerful Medicine of Our Time Healing Millions Worldwide.

Wild blueberries help restore the central nervous system and flush shingles neurotoxins out of the liver. They also help remove toxic heavy metals from the brain and liver, which shingles virus feeds on and then produces neurotoxins which cause many symptoms and conditions. Wild blueberries are a critical part of the Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox. Wild blueberries smaller than their larger, cultivated cousins and can be found in the freezer section of many grocery stores.

Papaya’s amino acids and enzymes combined create undiscovered subcompound phytochemicals that repel viruses. Its vitamin C content is an antiviral secret weapon and also helps cleanse and rebuild the liver where the shingles virus camps out. Papayas also restore the central nervous system from viral neurotoxin damage, which is critical for shingles-caused symptoms or conditions. Look for the Mexican and Central American papaya variety known as Maradol. These medium-to-large papayas are preferable to Hawaiian varieties, which have suffered GMO contamination.

Apples starve out viruses from the intestinal tract and liver. As the pectin from an apple moves through your gut, it collects and rids your body of viruses and other microbes such as bacteria, yeast, and mold. Choose red-skinned apples for the most nutrients.

Pears revitalize and feed the liver while cleansing and purging the organ of shingles virus waste matter. Pears restore linings in the gut that have become damaged from the shingles virus. The shingles virus feeds off of milk, cheese, butter, and eggs and then excretes toxic waste that breaks down the intestinal linings over time.

Artichokes help cleanse the liver of neurotoxins and dermatoxins produced by viruses such as the shingles virus. The edible portion of artichoke leaves (technically, bracts) contains alkaloid compounds that send messages to specific parts of your immune system to guard you from invaders such as shingles.

Bananas are a powerful antiviral food with incredible anti-inflammatory properties due to their ability to lower viral load. They provide amino acids and the right kind of potassium to rebuild neurotransmitters after they’ve been burnt out by shingles’ neurotoxins. Bananas are a secret weapon in reversing colitis, which is caused by the shingles virus–a truth still unknown to medical research and science.

Sweet potato helps cleanse and detox the liver of shingles virus toxic byproduct that builds up over the years and makes the liver stagnant and sluggish. They also help to feed the nerves, which are greatly affected by the shingles virus because shingles virus neurotoxins are highly inflammatory to nerves.

Spinach creates an alkaline environment in the body and provides highly absorbable micronutrients to the nervous system, which is critical because EBV targets the nervous system when it gets to stage four (read all about the stages of EBV in Thyroid Healing). Spinach binds onto and removes the jelly-like EBV waste matter in the liver that can contribute to mystery weight gain, mystery heart flutters and more. Spinach is best eaten raw to receive its benefits.

Asparagus has phytochemicals in the skin and tips of its spears that push back shingles and help stop it from reproducing. Asparagus is also an incredible alkalizer, meaning it helps anyone who has become acidic with a load of troublemakers like shingles and its byproducts return to a healthy state. Asparagus has blood-, lymph-, and liver-purifying properties that make it an ideal food for helping to detoxify viral byproduct sludge.

Lettuces (varieties that are leafy and deep green or red) are antiviral. They help cleanse shingles from the liver and lymphatic system and are alkalizing to the body. Lettuces such as romaine contain sedative compounds that relax the nerves and calm the body, which is helpful for anyone with a viral symptom or condition that inflames the nerves.

Green beans contain anti-inflammatory chlorophyll-based compounds that are beneficial for any symptom or condition caused by shingles.

It’s important to drink fresh celery juice alone on an empty stomach in order to receive its healing benefits. Aim for 16 ounces or more in the morning at least 15 to 30 minutes before breakfast. Otherwise—if, say, you drank your celery juice right along with your breakfast or had it with an afternoon snack—you would miss out on its full healing power. The same goes if you add anything to your celery juice, such as lemon, apple, kale, collagen, apple cider vinegar, or even water or ice. All of these additions lower or cancel out the benefits of pure, unadulterated celery juice consumed alone.

If you blend celery into your smoothie or eat celery sticks, you also won’t receive the tremendous healing benefits celery juice offers. For example, if you add celery to your smoothie, the sodium cluster salts in celery juice that are responsible for so much of the healing that people all around the globe are experiencing, won’t get to your brain. If you blend up whole celery and drink it with the fiber still in it, the cluster salts also won’t get to your brain. If you eat celery sticks instead of juicing them, drink celery juice when your stomach is full of other food, put celery in with other ingredients in a green juice, or add collagen, activated charcoal, apple cider vinegar, or any other ingredient to your celery juice, the cluster salts won’t get to your brain. This is just one of many ways these additions will rob you of the healing benefits pure celery juice can offer you.

Let’s take a look at some of the ingredients NOT to add to celery juice, but in short, this is what to add to celery juice: nothing. Keep your 16 ounces of celery juice straight.

If you have water or lemon water upon waking before your celery juice, wait at least 15 to 30 minutes to drink your plain celery juice. Then wait at least 15 to 30 minutes after your celery juice to have your breakfast.

For more information on how to drink celery juice to receive its benefits and how it works inside your body, check out Medical Medium Celery Juice: The Most Powerful Medicine of Our Time Healing Millions Worldwide.

Lemon Juice

Celery juice is a one-ingredient drink. Even a juice blend of celery plus one other ingredient such as lemon juice throws off the benefits that you want when you first get up for the day. If you like other juice blends, that’s great; they’re good for you. Save them for later in the day. For your special 16-ounce celery juice on an empty stomach, make it celery only. If you purchase celery juice from stores in bottles, oftentimes they are made with both celery and lemon juice. These juices will not offer you the healing benefits you are drinking them for. Plus, there are issues with pre-bottled celery juice, too. Read about those below.

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

Keep it away from your celery juice. It’s one of the swiftest ways to render your celery juice completely useless; you won’t obtain a single benefit from celery juice if ACV is mixed into it. Celery juice’s sodium cluster salts, digestive enzymes, and plant hormones will be instantly destroyed. Its vitamin C will be instantly rendered unusable. Celery juice’s structure on the whole will be instantly spoiled. Because of money-driven interests and agendas, though, adding ACV to celery juice will keep being perpetuated as a great source of health. Don’t let the arguments sway you. Instead, remind yourself that when ACV hits celery juice, it oxidizes the celery juice immediately, making it go bad.

Fruit, Greens & Vegetable Juices

Just like lemon juice, adding any ingredients like kale, apple, carrot, and cucumber to your celery juice will greatly diminish its healing properties. As tempting as it is to add some kale, apple, lemon, ginger, carrot, or another food, keep that for another juice later in the day.

Water or Ice

Celery juice and plain water are so different that it’s not a good idea to mix them. This is why I advise against diluting celery juice with water or adding ice cubes to it. Regular water renders celery juice’s benefits useless. It’s also why I advise against dehydrating celery or celery juice and then reconstituting it with water. That doesn’t re-create a glass of celery juice, because regular water isn’t living.

Collagen

Collagen is one of the most disastrous items you can mix with celery juice. The minute you combine supplemental collagen with celery juice in your body, you cancel out celery juice’s benefits. Every last sodium cluster salt and enzyme in the juice reacts to the supplemental collagen negatively, as if it were a toxin. As soon as the celery juice–collagen mixture enters your mouth and stomach, the celery juice’s cluster salts attach themselves to the foreign collagen and try to rid it from the body via the intestinal tract. Trouble is, collagen’s sticky presence engulfs the sodium cluster salts, absorbing them even as the cluster salts are trying to neutralize the supplemental collagen.

There are unbelievable benefits to celery juice, and you lose those by mixing it with collagen. The juice’s sole purpose becomes trying to carry foreign collagen out through the intestinal tract. The supplemental collagen doesn’t even enter the bloodstream; the body eliminates it as waste. Any foreign collagen that does escape the intestinal tract walls gets directed to the liver, giving the organ yet one more troublemaker to sort and stow away.

Taking supplemental collagen (especially in celery juice, which should never be done) doesn’t help skin, joints, hair, and nails. The best action we can take is to support our bodies in producing their own collagen (and bile). For that, you need antioxidants, the proper vitamin B12, and the sulfur that naturally occurs in vegetables, as well as the zinc, magnesium, calcium, and silica found in foods and supplements. Along with drinking your pure celery juice regularly and detoxing the liver of its toxic load, these are the elements that truly support you. As much as you might have heard that supplementing with collagen can help with all of this, know the truth: that’s a mistaken theory, one that only ends up taking advantage of consumers.

Protein Powder and Activated Charcoal

Adding protein powder or activated charcoal to celery juice are two more trends that have been developing. Both of these products will prevent the sodium cluster salts in celery juice from providing you with their healing benefits.

HPP and Bottled Celery Juice

HPP stands for high-pressure pasteurization, and it means that rather than being freshly cold-pressed, bottled, and put on the shelf for you that day, the juice was delivered from a manufacturing plant. The pasteurization process of HPP doesn’t require heat, and this can lead to the illusion that it’s raw. Quite the contrary. Juice that’s been put through HPP has been denatured. Its cell structures have changed shape and form through this new process that hasn’t been time tested. Regular pasteurization is a heating process that’s shown its safety over the course of hundreds of years. Not that you want regularly pasteurized celery juice, either—you want it fresh and raw. Assuming that HPP means it’s raw juice is a mistaken assumption, though. In theory, it’s raw. In reality, it’s been hindered and compromised to sustain shelf life.

The reason to be wary of HPP is that it’s not going to bring you the health benefits of celery juice. I can see many people picking up HPP celery juice, trying it for a while, and then giving up because their symptoms and conditions haven’t improved. Don’t let that be you. It’s okay to drink celery juice that has been bottled that day by an in-store juice bar and put on the shelf, however it’s important to always check when that celery juice was made so it really was that day. If you’re able to, it would be even better to wait for a juice to be made fresh right in front of you, or to call ahead and organize for your juice to be made at the time you can pick it up.

Celery Tablets and Powder

Never think you’re going to get the same results from celery tablets or powders that you will from fresh celery juice. While some herbs and fruits can benefit you in dried or powdered form, these alternate forms of celery are a waste of money and do not offer anything that celery juice does. The healing benefits come from fresh, pure juiced celery. Please be aware that the Celeryforce supplement I love and have talked about multiple times is NOT a celery powder or celery tablet. This supplement doesn’t contain any celery at all and is instead a complementary supplement to drinking celery juice that you would take 30 minutes before or after celery juice.

Each of these 10 foods are fantastic choices to help you to heal from a cold or flu. And if you include them year-round or during times of increased exposure to bugs, they’ll help you prevent catching colds and flus.

When you feel the first signs of a cold or flu, try basing your diet mostly on these 10 foods. A diet that is all or mostly healing liquids such as fresh fruit and vegetable juices will help you to heal as quickly as possible, especially if you have a fever.

The more you include them regularly, the more you’ll heal and the better you’ll feel over time!

Celery Juice kills off pathogens, including flu viruses. It’s unique form of vitamin C doesn’t need to be converted by the liver, which means it instantly strengthens the immune system. Drink 16 ounces or more of plain celery juice on an empty stomach. Read Medical Medium Celery Juice: The Most Powerful Medicine of Our Time Healing Millions Worldwide for more information on how to use this herbal medicine to heal.

Cucumber Juice has anti-fever compounds and agents that help calm a fever like water on a fire. It’s also deeply rejuvenating and hydrating. Drink 16 ounces or more of plain cucumber juice on an empty stomach. Or drink it anytime you have a fever.

Lemon Water is excellent for the immune system, detoxifying the liver and body, rehydrating, and even helping with nausea. Squeeze half a lemon into 16 ounces of water every morning first thing. Make more to drink throughout the day.

Ginger Water helps prevent colds and flus and helps alleviate fatigue, nausea and sore throats. Ginger also has its own signature variety of vitamin C and helps bring the body out of a reactive state when you’re sick.

Thyme Tea and Water are anti-viral and help soothe coughs, relieve fevers, and fight colds and infections.

Healing Broth is healing, cleansing and nourishing all at the same time. It’s rich in minerals that need replenishing when you have a cold or flu. Check out the Medical Medium Healing Broth recipe. It’s best to strain out the vegetables and sip on just the broth when you have a fever.

Raw Garlic is antiviral and antibacterial, killing off only unproductive bacteria. It’s also immune strengthening. If you feel like you’re coming down with something like a sore throat, cold, or flu, mince one raw clove of garlic and mash it into half an avocado, banana, or some cooked potato. Repeat this three times daily until you feel better.

Raw Honey assists your body in keeping a strong first line of defense by strengthening neutrophils and macrophages so they can fight off pathogens. If you feel like you’re coming down with something, take a teaspoon of raw honey before bed. Add raw honey to lemon water to enhance the honey’s bioflavonoids and give the drink an additional immune boost.

If you feel like you might have a cold or flu developing, you can use a healing practice I call “zinc shock therapy.” It’s important to begin it as soon as you get your first sign of a cold or flu, such as a tickle or soreness in the throat, feeling rundown and weak, fatigue, fever or aches and pains. It’s important to have a bottle of high-quality liquid zinc sulfate on hand at all times so you have it ready as soon as you feel symptoms coming on.

How to do Zinc Shock Therapy

Squirt two dropperfuls of liquid zinc sulfate into your throat, let it sit there for a full minute and then swallow the zinc.

Three hours later, squirt another two dropperfuls into your throat and let it sit there again for a full minute before swallowing.

Repeat every three waking hours for two days.

Daily Zinc Support

Zinc is also important to include in smaller amounts as a daily supplement because zinc deficiency is a trigger for all kinds of chronic illnesses and symptoms.

With a severe zinc deficiency, you can become gravely ill. Zinc is critical for liver health, autoimmune conditions, acne, adrenal problems, arthritis, cancer, eczema, psoriasis, brain fog, child and baby liver (the name I have given to a certain set of health challenges many babies and children suffer with–read more in Liver Rescue), diabetes, fatigue, mood struggles, gout, heart palpitations, hepatitis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, hot flashes, inflammation, migraines, SIBO, sinus infections, weight issues, vertigo, tinnitus, multiple sclerosis, lupus, Lyme disease, thyroid problems, Epstein-Barr virus, shingles, UTIs, candida, and every other symptom and condition that exists.

If you have a symptom of any kind or you wish to help prevent symptoms in the future, make the right kind of zinc your best friend.
