Banana, Almond, & Coconut

These three versions of “milk” are all delicious options to pour on a bowl of cereal or add to a fruit smoothie! Each mylk has a different taste and level of creaminess. You might have to try out all three to figure out which one you love best! Unlike dairy milk, which can feed viruses and bacteria, or trigger inflammation and allergies, these tasty homemade alternatives are simple, quick, and flood your body with the nourishment it craves. If your child struggles with dairy or soy protein allergies, he or she may love one of these flavorful mylks instead.

Banana Mylk

Bananas can be found at any grocery store, and once brown speckles appear on the skin, they are ready to be eaten, frozen, or blended into a mylk! Bananas are 76% water and packed with vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C and B6. This “brain food” is a tremendous support for heavy thinkers. The anti-fungal and antibiotic compounds found in bananas aid in terminating viruses and make this fruit an excellent choice for anyone struggling with a chronic illness. Adding bananas into your diet can support the healing of irritable bowel syndrome, neurological disorders, diarrhea, atherosclerosis, osteoporosis, coronary artery disease, chron’s disease, stroke, and kidney, colon, and lung cancers.

Ingredients:
2 frozen banana
2 ripe banana
2 cups cold water

Directions:
Blend all ingredients until smooth and enjoy immediately!

Serves 1 - 2

Almond Mylk

While almonds strengthen nerves and bones, dates help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol, relieve constipation, improve anemia, and prevent macular degeneration. Among many other benefits, dates support energy and brain function as well. Vanilla has a calming effect on the nervous system and aids in the reduction of anxiety and stress. The aroma of vanilla beans alone can increase feelings of relaxation and happiness. So make sure to inhale the fragrance of this delicious drink as you whip it up!

Ingredients:
1 cup of almond butter
4 cups of cold water
2 dates
1/4 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Blend all ingredients until smooth and enjoy!

Notes:
This almond milk will keep in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. Natural separation will occur. Shake well before serving.

Serves 2-4

Coconut Mylk

Coconut contains many powerful properties. From helping ward off insomnia and sleep apnea, to preventing seizure disorders, the meat of the coconut offers many gifts to one’s health.

Ingredients:
- 1 cup of raw shredded coconut
- 4 cups of cold water

Directions:
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Strain through a nut milk back or fine sieve. Enjoy!

Notes:
This coconut milk will keep in the fridge for 5 to 6 days. Natural separation may occur. Shake well before serving.

Serves 2-4
